You may have to pay a steep premium for the BS6 iteration

Back in December 2020, we had reported that the Kawasaki Ninja 300 BS6 would be launched sometime in 2021. Looks like the wait is almost over as our sources have revealed that the most affordable Ninja in India could be launched by late-March or early-April. However, it may not be as affordable as you might expect. Sources reveal the upcoming bike is likely to cost around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom), Rs 22,000 more than the BS4 model which retailed at Rs 2.98 lakh.

Unofficial bookings for the new Ninja 300 have also commenced for a token amount of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000, depending on the location. For the exact details, we suggest you contact your nearest Kawasaki dealership.

The 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 300 will have a cleaner motor, but the output figures may remain similar to the BS4 variant. The Ninja 300 BS6 will be powered by a liquid-cooled 296cc parallel-twin motor, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It will make around 39PS of power and 27Nm of torque. The suspension and braking setup will also be the same as before.

On the feature front, we expect Kawasaki to equip the 2021 Ninja 300 with an all-LED headlamp. The design for the 2021 Ninja 300 will likely be carried over from the previous model but it would be nice to see some new paint schemes. All said and done, these updates wouldn’t justify the steep (expected) premium unless Kawasaki throws in a proper Ninja 650-esque TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, at the very least.

Once launched, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 will be the only parallel-twin faired motorcycle in the segment. In a related development, the new KTM RC 390 was spotted testing, and it seems the competition for the TVS Apache RR 310 is getting fiercer than before.

If you are looking for a more powerful motorcycle from the Japanese brand, check out the Ninja 650 and read our review of the bike here.
