Kawasaki W175 Retro Bike Teased, India Launch Very Soon

Modified On Sep 9, 2022 11:00 AM By Aamir Momin for Kawasaki W175

This is what the ‘Block Your Date’ Invite was for

Kawasaki has teased the ‘W’ logo on its social media platforms, and considering that we have already seen the W175 testing, the commuter-friendly motorcycle is the obvious guess. Team Green had sent us a ‘Block Your Date’ invite for September 25 and now it’s more apparent as to what product it will be launching.

The entry-level roadster by Kawasaki has been spied testing on the Indian roads a couple of times over the last two years, that too in a production-ready avatar. So the W175 launch only makes sense.

Now if you talk about the bike itself, it flaunts an absolute retro-roadster styling with minimalistic body panels, circular headlights, turn indicators and rearview mirrors along with an old-school taillight. The ribbed saddle, along with the spoke wheels, gives off a nostalgic appeal.

Powering the Kawasaki W175 will be a 177cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. In the South East Asian markets, the carburetted engine produces a meagre 13PS at 7,500rpm and 13.2Nm at 6,000rpm. However, the Fi converted heart for the Indian market is likely to get slightly different output figures and performance.

Similar to the international spec model and what was spied on our roads, the roadster will be getting a telescopic fork and dual shock absorber suspension setup. It gets a 220mm disc brake up front with single channel ABS (only for the Indian market), whereas the rear gets a drum brake.

For more details on the bike, you can head to our complete analysis story here.

Expect Kawaski to price the roadster at around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have no direct rivals; however, it will be a smaller-engine alternative to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and will also have the Yamaha FZ-X in its crosshairs.
