Kawasaki Z650RS Gets the Anniversary Edition Treatment And It's Gorgeous

Comes at a small premium buuuut… you should probably hurry, even if you have the cash to spare

The Kawasaki Z650RS 50th Anniversary features a unique brown colour scheme with red highlights. Comes with exclusive logos and a special textured leather seat. Costs Rs 7,000 more than the standard variant. No mechanical changes whatsoever.

Remember the 50th Anniversary editions of the Kawasaki Z900, Z650, Z900RS and the Z650RS that Kawasaki unveiled at the start of this year? Well, out of these, the Japanese bikemaker has now launched the Kawasaki Z650RS 50th Anniversary edition bike here in India. The special edition neo-retro bike retails at Rs 6,79,000 (ex-showroom India), making it Rs 7,000 dearer than the standard model.

For the small premium, you get a tasteful Candy Diamond Brown colour scheme, a throwback to the ‘Fireball’ colour scheme of the original Z1, with red highlights on the bodywork. The bike also comes with a special ‘Z 50th’ logo on top of the fuel tank, and the single-piece seat gets a textured leather seat cover with contrast stitching. Additionally, the motorcycle also comes with a single-piece chromed-out grab rail. The motorcycle comes with the same alloys finished in gold, and the rest of the features and mechanicals have remained untouched.

To recap, the Z650RS is powered by a 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor churning out 68PS and 64Nm. The motorcycle employs a telescopic front fork, linked rear monoshock, twin 300mm front discs and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard. Notable features include a twin-pod semi-digital instrument cluster, and all-LED lighting.

Bookings for the Z650RS 50th Anniversary have commenced but the motorcycle is limited to just 20 units for India. Deliveries will begin in March. Expect Kawasaki to soon bring in the Z900 and Z650 50th Anniversary editions too.

Summing up, the Z650RS 50th Anniversary is quite a looker at such a nominal premium. Other alternatives include the Triumph Trident 660 and the more premium Honda CB650R. You can also go for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the most affordable 650cc bike in India.
