KTM 390 Adventure Launched In India!

Modified On Jan 20, 2020 08:06 PM By Team Bikedekho for KTM 390 Adventure

Your wait for KTM’s feature-packed do-it-all bike finally ends!

The eternally-awaited adventure-tourer from KTM, the 390 Adventure, has finally been launched in India! With a reasonable price tag of Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the 390 Adventure is priced to our expectations, demanding Rs 51,000 over the 390 Duke

The 390 Adventure first broke cover in India on December 6, 2019, at the India Bike Week, and KTM India has finally put all speculation to end with its launch. Based on the 390 Duke platform, but with crucial changes for the benefit of ‘adventure travel’ (in KTM-speak), the 390 Adventure features 200mm of ground clearance, long-travel suspension with 170mm of wheel travel up-front and 177mm of rear-wheel travel. It gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup (alloys) and Metzeler dual-purpose tyres to give it adventure capability. For those of you concerned about accessibility, yes, the 390 Adventure appears to pose a challenge with its 855mm seat height - that’s 25mm taller than that of the Duke’s. Thankfully, it’s not substantially heavier than the 154kg Duke, weighing 162kg (dry), which should be adequately manageable.

The 390 Duke’s dominant 373cc, 43PS motor, equipped with a DOHC setup, liquid-cooling and fuel-injection serves the 390 Adventure as well, albeit now in BS6 guise. However - for the time being at least - the 390 Adventure has the edge in terms of riding assists. Prominent among these are lean angle sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS and an up/down quickshifter. Also available as standard is the KTM My Ride smartphone connectivity software which allows you to connect your phone to the rider interface, enabling you to answer calls, play music and deploy turn-by-turn navigation. A full-color TFT display is also on offer, just like it is on the 390 Duke.

The 390 Adventure offers increased functionality over the Duke, especially in an adventure-riding context, with its 14.5-litre fuel tank (1 litre up on the Duke), an adjustable windshield and serrated footpegs that are better suited to off-road riding. It also gets a 12V power outlet and illumination, just like on the Duke, is an all-LED affair.

You can expect to see the 390 Adventure at your nearest KTM dealership anytime now. While KTM India hasn’t specified delivery timelines, we expect them to commence in a matter of days.
