KTM 390 Adventure New vs Old: Differences Explained

Modified On May 6, 2022 11:24 AM By Aamir Momin for KTM 390 Adventure

What exactly is new on the updated model, and is it worth the premium?

KTM has finally launched the 2022 iteration of its popular 390 Adventure. It packs a bunch of new goodies, and here is how the updated model differs from the outgoing one:

Traction control

The previous-gen 390 Adventure was already a feature-packed motorcycle and came equipped with traction control. However, with the update, KTM has been generous enough to equip the 390 Adventure’s switchable traction control system with new modes: Street and Offroad.

The Offroad mode allows the rear wheel to slide to a certain degree, making it easier to manoeuvre the bike in wet or loose terrain. Additionally, the traction control stays activated even if the bike stalls or falls in the Offroad mode and unlike its predecessor, the TC will not cut in abruptly.

New Wheels

Thanks to the new update, the 2022 390 Adventure now rolls on five-spoke alloy wheels instead of the six-spoke ones, which KTM claims will increase stiffness and offer better shock resistance for the rims, for greater confidence while trail-taming.

Fresh colours and graphics

For a more refreshed look of the bike, the 390 Adventure is now available in KTM Factory Racing Blue and Dark Galvano Black paint schemes. The new colours add to the adventure spirit of the bike, and give it a more snazzy look. Complementing that are the updated graphics which offer a sportier appeal to the ADV.

Price

With a price tag of Rs 3,34,895 (ex-showroom Delhi), the 2022 KTM 390 Adventure commands a premium of Rs 6,452 over its predecessor. Is the price hike justified? We’ll answer that when we ride and review the bike.

What remains the same is the 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine making 43.5 PS and 37 Nm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The electronic package from the previous model includes lean angle-sensitive ABS and Motorcycle Traction Control. The bike is suspended on the same WP Apex USD forks and adjustable monoshock.
