Meet the Dragonfly on Two-Wheels - Yamaha 04GEN

Where scooters have become equally important as motorcycles in today’s automotive world, the vehicle manufacturers put in their best efforts to deliver the ultimate product. Keeping this in mind, Yamaha Motor has recently introduced the 04GEN concept at the 2016 Vietnam Motorcycle Show. The main highlight of the scooter is the semi-transparent wings that cover the chassis. The 04GEN concept is based on the RUN-WAY concept, which according to the company has been designed to ‘evoke the image of a woman with an air of dignified elegance and grace in mind and body’. 

The Yamaha 04GEN is a result of the company’s ‘Refined Dynamism’ design philosophy that was established in the year 2013. The scooter has been designed with a pair of transparent wings at the rear that gets folded like the ones in real. The frame is covered under these set of wings, giving an innovative touch to the machine. 

Yamaha has introduced a total of four concepts under the Refined Dynamism philosophy till date. The first to come into the picture was the 01GEN concept that was basically a crossover motorcycle while the 02GEN was an electrically power-assisted wheelchair. Both these were introduced in the year 2014. The third concept - 03GEN was a three-wheel prototype and the most recent looks somewhat inspired from a dragonfly. 

If the 04GEN becomes a reality, it is expected to go head-to-head with the Vespa 946 and step up the game in the premium scooter segment. The new Yamaha can prove to be a strong scootering delight to those who have a soft corner for these kind of machines. Price can be an important and crucial factor, though!

The Vietnam Motorcycle Show is currently running in its debut edition and is scheduled from April 7, 2016 to April 11, 2016 at Ho Chi Minh.
