Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and Roamer India Launch Soon
The Roamer has been priced at Rs 13.3 lakh, while the Bobber carries a price tag of Rs 13.4 lakh. Bookings are open at Motoplex stores.
Moto Guzzi is all set to launch its V9 Bobber and Roamer in India anytime soon. The company has already started bookings for both the bikes from the end of May 2016 and you can book one from any Piaggio Motoplex dealership. The Roamer gets a price tag of Rs 13.3 lakh, while the Bobber has been priced at Rs 13.4 lakh (both ex-showroom, Pune). Both the bikes will take the CBU route to enter the Indian market.
First showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in February this year, both the Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer and Bobber are advanced, light-weight cruisers based on a new platform, designed for easy handling. Powering the bikes is a new 853cc V-Twin that comes mated to a slick six-speed transmission. Using a Marelli EFI system the transverse-mounted motor (a Moto Guzzi signature) makes 55PS at 6,250rpm and delivers a peak torque of 61Nm at just 3,000rpm. Unlike most cruisers that use a belt or chain drive, the V9 uses a unique shaft-type final drive.
As mentioned above, the bikes share one platform, however, their styling and some features make them much different from each other. The V9 Bobber comes with a dark custom paint scheme along with chopped fenders, wider tyres, straight handlebars and decently sporty handling. On the other hand, the V9 Roamer gets a more classic design that incorporates all-metal fabrication, a brat seat and lots of chrome.
If we look at the engine capacity and performance of the Moto Guzzi V9 models, their competition is the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 and the Triumph Street Twin. However, their pricing is even higher than the more powerful Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight, 1200 Custom, Street Bob and the Triumph Bonneville T120. Now, let's see whether the transverse-mounted V-twins succeed in attracting buyers to pay these extra lakhs or not.
