Nerva Exe E-Scooter Launched In Spain

With BYD’s lithium iron phosphate batteries, this scooter weighs 277Kg 

Spanish auto manufacturer Nerva has unveiled the new Exe electric scooter in Spain. The company has collaborated with BYD, The world’s largest battery manufacturer, for assembling the scooter and providing the lithium iron phosphate batteries for the same.

The Nerva Exe has the classic maxi-scooter design with muscular and aggressive-looking body panels. The LED headlight setup is a little too long on the fascia, and it looks slightly overdone. The scooter has a long integrated windscreen that guides the airflow for better stability. The side panels are muscular and edgy, extending all the way back and ending with a classy LED taillight.

Powering this performance electric scooter is a 5.76kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack that offers up to 6000 charge and discharge cycles. Compared to the conventional battery types, this type of battery is more durable but has a lower energy density. Nerva claims that the EV can be charged from 0-80 percent in 3.5 hours, while a full charge takes 4 hours and 20 minutes.

The company claims a range of up to 150km in 'Eco' mode, 115km in 'City', and 75km in the 'Sports' mode. Paired with a 9kW motor that can produce up to 12kW of peak power, the scooter can achieve a top speed of 125kmph. It can go from 0-50kmph in 4.5 seconds and from 0-80kmph in 10.5 seconds.

Now, to the more interesting part. The Nerva Exe weighs 277kg, heavier than any scooter in its segment and about 64kg heavier than the BMW C 400 GT. Even though the scooter's performance is fairly decent, the heavy kerb weight plays spoilsport. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are generally heavier than the li-ion ones, which must be one of the reasons for the excess weight. 

The e-scooter rides on 15-inch (front) and 14-inch (rear) tyres. It gets a dual disc braking set up and a combined braking system; however, it misses out on ABS.

Now, to the features. The scooter gets an analog speedometer along with a 5-inch LED digital instrument cluster, ‘Eco’, ‘City’, ‘Sport’ and ‘reverse’ modes, navigation, smartphone integration, notifications and a ‘locate scooter’ feature.

The Nerva Exe is priced at €3,380 (around Rs 2.88 lakh). However, the electric scooter won’t be heading to our shores anytime soon. That said, you can always check out other options available in India, including the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, Tork Kratos, and the soon-to-be-launched Ultraviolette F77.
