New Benelli India Motorcycles Arrival After BS6 Emission Deadline

Modified On Oct 29, 2019 11:48 PM By Jehan Adil Darukhanawala for Benelli Imperiale 400

The TRK251 and a heavily localised version of the Imperiale will be one of the first new bikes to arrive on our shores in April

The Imperiale 400 was the last motorcycle launched from Benelli for the fiscal year. Benelli will also look at bringing in higher displacement models like the 752S next year. Plans of dealer network expansion are in order.

With the launch of the Imperiale 400, Benelli India has completed its quota of launches for the fiscal year. We were initially told that the Italian brand would also be bringing the TRK 251 this year but plans of its arrival have been put on hold. In fact, we can only expect a new Benelli to arrive at our shores post the BS6 emission deadline which is set at 1 April, 2020.

The thought behind delaying the launches is simple, Benelli do not want to increase BS4 inventory and burden its dealers with units that will become unsellable post 1 April. The objective that Benelli has set out for itself is to expand its current dealer network from 26 outlets to 80 touch points by the end of next year.

What we could expect from Benelli in 2020 is the arrival of the BS6-complaint versions of its existing products including the TNT 600 and the TNT 300 (which could be rebadged as the 302S). Benelli is also seeking heavy localisation for the Imperiale 400 so as to offset the increase in costs once the BS6 updates are done to the bike. New models like the 752S and the 502C could also make their way down to India next year. Expect more details to arrive post EICMA where the Italian brand will be showcasing the production-ready version of the Leoncino 800 scrambler.
