New Oben EV Launch Every Six Months; E-scooter Incoming

Modified On Mar 17, 2022 03:15 PM By Praveen M. for Oben Rorr

The Bengaluru-based startup plans to offer four electric two-wheelers by 2024

Oben Electric, a Benglauru-based startup, launched its first offering – the Oben Rorr. At the launch event, the EV maker also revealed its grand plans of launching a new product every six months for the next two years. By 2024, Oben plans to have four electric two-wheelers in its portfolio, positioned in different segments, including an electric scooter.

The Indian electric motorcycle space is still developing with only a few known offerings in the segment. Oben Electric has the perfect opportunity to tap into this segment with the Oben Rorr. And with other upcoming products, Oben should become a formidable EV maker in the country. That said, Oben will face a tough challenge in the scooter segment as it is already dominated by the Ola S1, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and TVS iQube Electric. Even Suzuki will be launching the Burgman Electric soon. Honda is also working on an EV, possibly something along the lines of the Honda Activa Electric

To achieve its ambitions, Oben Electric has its manufacturing plant in Electronic City, Bengaluru. The company aims to start with a 6,000 unit per month capacity, and will ultimately reach 3 lakh units a year mark. The company also aims to establish its presence in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur by the middle of this year in the first phase. We hope Oben Electric is able to expand soon, and also offer a widespread network of charging stations to cater to the demand.
