New Royal Enfield ‘J’ Platform Bikes Spotted With Meteor 350
Three J-platform bikes were spotted testing alongside the BS6 Continental GT 650
Three of Royal Enfield’s upcoming motorcycles have been spotted testing together in India. These bikes will be based on the brand's new J-platform that will be offered with a brand new engine, as well as updated designs and features. Amongst the three bikes that were spotted was the Meteor 350. The upcoming cruiser will be offered in three variants: the base Fireball, mid-spec Stellar and top-of-the-line Supernova. You can read more about the variants here.
The first bike in the image seen cruising alongside the car is the 2020 Classic 350, although this particular model seems to have a blacked-out engine and exhaust compared to the previous test bikes we’ve seen so far. This could either be a second variant or the paint scheme that could be offered across the lineup as standard. Having said that, Royal Enfield would only bring the 2020 Classic into the picture once they've phased out the current-gen BS6 model. The current 346cc UCE mill would be retined for the Bullet 350 for its nostalgic appeal. The 2020 Classic 350, on the other hand, will be promoted with the new J platform and engine.
The third bike that looks a bit blurry looks like the Roadster that was spotted testing earlier this year. What gives is the sporty stance, upswept exhaust and the camouflage design. Now we aren’t entirely sure if the bike will retain the roadster tag or take on a more iconic name such as the Sherpa or Hunter, names that were recently trademarked by the company. More details on the Roadster here.
Needless to say, the thorough testing of these bikes suggest that Royal Enfield is inching closer to launching them in the Indian market. We expect the bikes based on the J-platform to go on sale sometime in 2021.
