Kawasaki Z900 hasn’t been updated in a long time and we think this is the right time for the Japanese manufacturer to update the naked bike

The Kawasaki Z900 is one of the most affordable inline-4-cylinder bikes in India, which makes it a popular pick among enthusiasts and youngsters who want a ‘cheap’ superbike. Because of its price tag, it is among the best-selling superbikes, not only in India but in many other countries as well.

Despite being such a popular bike, Kawasaki hasn’t updated the Z900 in a long time and we think that it is the right time for the Japanese manufacturer to update the current Kawasaki Z900

What updates could the new Kawasaki Z900 get?

The new update for the Z900 does not necessarily mean a brand-new engine as the current 948cc inline-four cylinder engine makes enough power to compete with other bikes in the segment. However, Kawasaki may tune it to be more economical.

We expect Kawasaki to do some weight reduction on the new Z900 as the current-gen bike weighs a whopping 212kg (kerb) which is significantly more than its rivals.  In order to reduce weight, Kawasaki may also swap out the current-gen Z900’s steel tubular trellis frame with a more lightweight chassis; it may also get a new aluminium sub-frame and a new swing arm as well.

The current Kawasaki Z900 is powered by a 948cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine that makes a peak output of 125PS and 98.6Nm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. It competes with the likes of the Triumph Street Triple 765, BMW F 900 R and the Ducati Monster in India.

Things we would like to see on the new Z900

Apart from the above-mentioned updates, we would love to see Kawasaki playing with the bike’s design and give the Z900 a new refreshed design with more aggressive looks. The bike may also get updated features and we would like the Z900 to be equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS, and turn-by-turn navigation which would really sweeten the deal and make the bike more desirable.
