The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is all set to comply with the upcoming OBD 2 norms that will come into effect from April 1, 2023. According to the new regulations, vehicles will have to comply with emissions in real time and not just in laboratory conditions. Now, the RTO document of the updated MT-15 has surfaced online, giving us a clear picture of what’s new in the updated bike.
The OBD 2-compliant Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 makes the same power as the current-gen model, which is 18.4PS at 10,000rpm. The 14.1Nm peak torque is also expected to remain the same. Even the weight is unchanged (139kg kerb). Expect the other features as well as the mechanicals to remain unchanged. All in all, the upcoming updated MT-15 will essentially be the same as the current-gen bike, except for its emission compliance.
OBD 2 refers to the second generation version of the Onboard Diagnostic device (OBD). This device will constantly monitor the emission levels while the vehicle is running, and if there are any discrepancies in the emissions, it will alert the rider via a malfunction indicator on the instrument cluster.
