Oben Rorr Electric Bike Now Available In Delhi, Pune, Kochi And Trivandrum

Modified On May 28, 2024 07:58 PM By Aman for Oben Rorr

This marks Oben Electric’s foray into states outside Bengaluru

Oben Electric, an electric two-wheeler startup, was founded in August 2020 with its headquarters in Bengaluru.

The company launched its first product, an electric bike called the Oben Rorr, back in 2022. However, the first 25 bikes were delivered in Bengaluru only in July 2023. Oben Electric took the feedback from the first media ride that happened in July 2022 and made several updates to the bike around the end of 2023. While its presence so far was only in Bengaluru (in HSR Layout), Oben has now entered markets in Delhi, Pune, Kochi and Trivandrum. Additionally, it also set up new dealerships in Banashankari, Rajajinagar, and Electronic City in Bengaluru. Now, the company has a total of 8 dealerships, and it plans to expand further to 50 dealerships across 12 major cities by the end of 2024.

All the new dealerships are full-fledged experience centers, complete with a service area, accessories and merchandise sections. Oben raised Rs 40 crore in funding to ramp up its production to 100,000 units per year at its 3.5-acre plant in Bengaluru. As of June 2023, it had 21,000 pre-orders. However, as per the Vahan portal, only 129 units have been registered till date, with April 2024 registrations being 30 units and registrations in May limited to just 19 units. Do note that certain states may be a part of the older Vahan database and Telangana is not part of Vahan. Hopefully, with the expanded dealership network, the company should be able to cater to its demand better.

The Oben Rorr comes with an IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 187km, a claimed top speed of 100kmph, and costs Rs 1,49,999 (introductory, ex-showroom Karnataka). It rivals the Tork Kratos R, whereas a more affordable, less powerful alternative is the Revolt RV400.
