Okinawa Okhi90 Gets More Features For 2023
The absence of FAME 2 subsidies has caused its price to skyrocket
Okinawa has launched the updated Okhi90, its flagship electric scooter, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,86,006. Yep, Rs 1.86 lakh!! The scooter cost Rs 1.22 lakh when it was launched last year, but now the absence of FAME 2 in its price has made it skyrocket. For perspective, the absolutely gorgeous Yamaha R15 V4 Intensity White colourway will cost you Rs 1,86,700 (ex-showroom Delhi). It’s not particularly hard, selecting between the two, is it?
Anyway, we digress. The 2023 Okhi-90’s LCD console now gets Bluetooth connectivity, through which you can get call and notification alerts, see the time, and music updates. The 3800W centrally mounted electric motor, 3.6kWh removable lithium-ion battery pack, 80-90kmph top speed and 160km claimed range have all remained unchanged. Interestingly, the scooter gets something known as E-ABS. And no, that’s not what you think, it’s Electronic-Assisted Braking System, which is basically Okinawa’s term for CBS. Other new bits include a reverse mode and an anti-theft feature.
The Okhi90’s USP though, are definitely its 16-inch alloy wheels, that are unheard of in the scooter segment. Plus its 40-litre underseat storage is more than enough for most. Its underbone chassis also has a floorboard. Moreover, it also gets practical touches like an underseat USB charging port, boot light, twin apron-mounted utility hooks and an apron-mounted glove box. So in terms of practicality, the Okhi90 is quite sorted.
