Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 Discontinued, Replaced By 450cc Himalayan

Modified On Nov 25, 2023 10:45 AM By Praveen M. for Royal Enfield Himalayan

The 450cc Himalayan is the first Royal Enfield bike with a liquid-cooled engine

The newly launched Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has replaced the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. The Himalayan 411 was India’s first affordable adventure bike, and has been in the market since 2016.

It opened a new chapter for Royal Enfield as it was the first adventure bike from the brand as well. It was developed from the ground up, and the chassis was made in collaboration with UK-based performance house Harris Performance, owned by Eicher Motors (Royal Enfield’s parent company). The bike also used a brand new powerplant -- the first liquid-cooled counterbalanced engine from Royal Enfield.

Granted, the Himalayan had a rough start in the Indian market but Royal Enfield fixed all the major flaws in the subsequent generations, massively improving the motorcycle. With a strong low-end grunt and reasonable highway performance, it made the adventure bike segment in India even more exciting after desi riders got a taste of offroading with the short-lived Hero Impulse. In fact, the ADV segment witnessing a strong growth post the Himalayan launch also inspired Hero MotoCorp to launch the Hero XPulse 200 in 2019.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a natural evolution of the Himalayan, with improvements in every aspect, making it an even better bike on both highways and off the road. Consequently, it also commands a higher price tag. But if you’re on a budget, you still buy the Royal Enfield Scram 411 which is priced from Rs 2,06,394 (ex-showroom Delhi).
