Over 2.36 lakh Royal Enfields in six countries are now under the scanner
Royal Enfield has issued a recall for Meteor 350, Classic 350 and Bullet 350 motorcycles manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021 due to a faulty ignition coil. RE has stated that the defect could result in misfiring, reduced engine performance and in some cases even cause an electric short circuit.
As per the company, the defect was found in a routine internal testing and was zeroed in on the batch of the material from an external supplier. This affects the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021, Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Bullet 350 built between January and April 2021.
The recall will affect over 2,36,966 units sold in India, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. That said, Royal Enfield has assured that the faulty part doesn’t impact all the bikes manufactured in the period, however, it will be inspecting all the models nonetheless. As per the company, only an estimated 10 percent of the vehicles will require part replacement.
Royal Enfield service teams and dealerships will be reaching out to the customers whose Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) falls in the aforementioned manufacturing period. Alternatively, customers too can reach out to the company and get their bikes inspected. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost.
