BREAKING: Royal Enfield SG650 Concept Bobber Unveiled At 2021 EICMA

Modified On Nov 23, 2021 04:16 PM By Praveen M. for Royal Enfield Shotgun 650

The production version is likely to be called the Shotgun 650

The SG 650 shares its powertrain with the Interceptor 650 / Continental GT 650, but gets twin pea-shooter exhausts. Also comes with a Bobber styling complete with slammed handlebar, chopped fenders, and a single-seater configuration. Production version could be launched later next year.

Royal Enfield has taken the wraps off its swanky bobber, the Royal Enfield SG650 Concept at this year’s EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Expect the production version to be called the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, and is likely to be launched later next year.

With a unique brushed metal and black combo colour scheme, slammed-down styling, the Chennai-based bikemaker has made sure the SG650 Concept looks smashing from every angle. The motorcycle gets a muscular cowl that houses a modern LED headlight. The indicators and the tail lamp are LED too. It even gets a twin-pod instrument cluster with the smaller pod being the ‘Tripper’ turn-by-turn navigation unit. The low, wide handlebars are complemented by underslung bar-end mirrors. This, coupled with the mid-set footpegs and single seat configuration, should offer a slightly sporty riding stance. The pea-shooter exhausts are finished in black, and the fenders - staying true to the Bobber aesthetic - are chopped.

The SG650 Concept is powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin air/oil-cooled motor that does duty on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. In the duo, it produces 47.6PS and 52Nm, and we reckon the engine is in the same state of tune in the bobber as well. That said, we reckon the exhaust note will be a lot different, thanks to the new setup.

Further adding masculinity are the solid alloy wheels with a twin cut-outs at both ends. It even gets solid discs (a twin setup up front and a single disc at the rear), which may not be as thermally efficient as ventilated disc, but look uber cool nonetheless! On, and then there’s the inverted front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, and fat Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres.

All in all, Royal Enfield has done a splendid job of making a bobber from the 650cc platform. It also gives us a good idea of how the production version will be. That said, Royal Enfield’s EICMA offering isn’t as radical as it was back in 2018, when it unveiled the Concept KX. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
