Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Expected Price Analysis And Launch Details

Launch is likely to take place in January 2024

Royal Enfield took to the stage at Motoverse 2023 to launch a 25-unit limited custom version of their upcoming bobber, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 dubbed the ‘Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition’. Royal Enfield mentioned that “...delivery of these 25 motorcycles will begin in January 2024, and these 25 customers will be the first owners of the Shotgun 650 globally.” Additionally, the Chennai-based bikemaker also revealed that the production version of the Shotgun 650 will be launched in “early 2024”.

With these taken into account, expect the launch of the production version to happen in January, shortly after the deliveries of the custom version take place, in January 2024. Expect the brand to unveil the production version in December 2023.

As mentioned earlier, the special Motoverse edition is limited to 25 units and was only sold to Motoverse attendees at a price of Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The custom variant features a unique hand painted colour scheme that sets it apart from the production version. Royal Enfield has also mentioned that the colour scheme will not be reproduced in the future. 

The Shotgun 650 is based on the Super Meteor 650 and shares a lot of parts in common, but the design changes sets it apart and give it a unique bobber look. The design changes include, a new headlight cowl, twin peashooter exhausts and a chopped rear fender that’s complemented by mid-set footpegs and flatter handlebars with bar-end mirrors.

The pricing of the Motoverse edition is a bit high as it is an exclusive custom variant that’s limited to just 25 units. But we expect the regular production version of the Shotgun 650 to come at a much lower price, something closer to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make the bike a bit cheaper than the Super Meteor 650 which starts at an ex-showroom (Delhi) price of Rs 3,60,899. Once the Shotgun 650 is launched, it will be the only 650cc bobber in the Indian market, with the other bobber offerings being limited to the Jawa 42 Bobber and Jawa Perak both of which come under the 300cc segment.
