Royal Enfield Unveils Custom Himalayan Flat-trackers At 2019 Rider Mania

The custom Himalayan is developed in collaboration with S&S Cycles and Autologue Design 

Autologue Design took 45 days to build five custom units for the 2019 Rider Mania.  The custom Himalayans get a larger rear sprocket and 18-inch wheels at both ends.  Royal Enfield will soon open a flat tracking school in India, where these custom bikes will be used. 

Royal Enfield has unveiled custom Himalayan flat-tracker concepts at the 2019 Rider Mania. These custom units are designed by S&S Cycles, whereas the kits are manufactured by Pune-based Autologue Design. The Chennai-based bike maker has no plans of building these custom Himalayans for sale. Instead, the flat-tracker Himalayans will be used at the company’s flat track school, which is scheduled to open soon.

So, is it just a design exercise or has Royal Enfield made some changes to the stock Himalayan to help it go sideways? The custom Himalayan gets 18-inch wheels shod with off-road Timsun tyres compared to the 21-/17-inch as seen on the standard bike. Apart from this, Royal Enfield has also fitted a K&N filter and a custom S&S end-can. Even though Royal Enfield has tweaked the mechanicals a bit, the engine is still in stock condition and churns out the same power and torque figures as the standard motorcycle. Being true to its form, Royal Enfield has removed the front brakes as well!

Moreover, the custom Himalayan comes equipped with a larger rear sprocket for quicker acceleration. And being a flat tracker, Royal Enfield has thrown all the parts including the front fender, lights, instrument cluster and rear foot pegs to save around 12-15kg.

As aforementioned, the custom Himalayan won’t be sold anytime soon. However, if you want, you can give it a try at the Big Rock Dirtpark in Bengaluru in the coming few weeks.
