Suzuki Hayabusa BS4 Discontinued

The last of the BS4 Hayabusas was launched in two new paint schemes last December

The 2020 Hayabusa was available for a limited time period. It had a sticker price of Rs 13,74,941 (ex-showroom Delhi). The all-new Busa is expected to be launched in 2021.

In a bid to pay homage to the iconic peregrine falcon, the Japanese bike maker launched the limited Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R in two new colour schemes last December: Metallic Thunder Gray and Candy Daring Red. The bike also featured new front brake calipers, however, its specifics were unclear. The 2020 model was essentially the last hurrah for the litre-class supersport in its BS4 avatar, because the Busa has been pulled off the shelf for good this time. A new model is expected to be launched in 2021, with a possible unveil in 2020.

The supersport hasn’t seen much change over the years aside from cosmetic updates and a couple of mechanical modifications but it still had a special place in every motorhead’s heart. The bike was as raw as raw can get. One of the most aerodynamic designs powered by a 1340cc inline-four motor delivering around 200PS with minimal electronic rider aids should give you the gist. 

Nonetheless, we have something to look forward to, and that’s the revamped Hayabusa which is likely to have an all-new look, a larger engine with reworked internals, a revised chassis and gearbox. New emission norms have forced manufacturers to bump engine displacement in a bid to compensate for performance loss. Leaked patent images of the upcoming bike suggest it will sport a new motor with an increased capacity of around 1440cc, 100cc more than the last running 1340cc BS4 engines. The jump in displacement will allow engineers to run different fuel and ignition tunes to produce lower tailpipe emissions.

Though there have been several renders of the upcoming hyperbike, Suzuki has managed to keep the actual design under wraps. Guess we'll just have to feed off patent images for now. But, be rest assured, the Busa will be back bigger and stronger than ever before. It's just a matter of time.
