Suzuki Hayate, Let’s Discontinued
While there’s no official word from the brand, we suspect low sales figures are to be blamed for this development
The scooter and the motorcycle have been taken off the company’s website. Dealers across multiple cities have confirmed that the two models are no longer on sale. Both the Suzuki Hayate and the Let’s sold only a couple of hundred units each, in the last few months.Suzuki Motorcycles India has silently pulled the plug on the Hayate and the Let’s. Various dealers across the country have confirmed that the entry-level commuter motorcycle and the scooter will only be available until stocks last.
While Suzuki hasn’t given us an official confirmation yet, we suspect this move comes as a result of the low sales figures of the two models. The Japanese company has been selling only a couple of hundreds of units of both two-wheelers for some time now - a far cry from its competitors. For instance, the Hero Splendor and the Honda Activa, clocked a sale of 2.2 lakh units and 2.1 lakh units in one month alone!
We suspect the decision might have also been influenced by the recently implemented safety mandates which required both the Hayate and Let’s to have CBS (Combined Braking System). With the Let’s discontinued, Suzuki’s scooter lineup is only limited to the 125cc segment now. When it comes to bikes, with the Hayate now taken off the shelves, Suzuki now has no products in the 110cc-125cc commuter segment.
