This Custom Royal Enfield Continental GT650 Has Racy, Retro Vibes

Modified On Jan 24, 2021 10:00 AM By Pratik Bhanushali for Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Built by a Thai custom bike builder, it features a sporty fairing and a roaring exhaust

Royal Enfields and custom bike builders have a love affair that has lasted many decades and with the introduction of the 650 twins, it has only reached new heights. The latest bike to join this rather long list is a customised Continental GT 650 by Ranger Korat, a custom motorcycle garage based in Thailand.

The bike has received a major cosmetic overhaul and we must say it looks ravishing in the rather bold red and chrome dual-tone finish. The front fairing is custom made with the original headlight integrated into it. Ranger Korat has also added a neat-looking bubble screen that makes their custom creation look like a race bike straight out of the 1970s. Custom bikes are all about details and we specifically love the chrome bolts and the fine pinstripe work on the fairing. For added protection, the front fork seals get gaiters on both sides. Since the inspiration for the build was a race bike, the clip-on handlebars are positioned lower for a sportier stance. We aren’t sure of the tyre brand, but the custom GT is sporting an aftermarket rubber. The rider seat is a thin pad, whereas the pillion seat has made way for a cowl with the tail light tucked in it. Not to forget, the turn indicators are eliminated from both the ends for a cleaner look. Last but not least, the bike also has an aftermarket exhaust system which is significantly lighter than the stock exhaust and we are sure it sounds sweet as well.

The underpinnings haven't been altered. The bike is sprung on a 41mm telescopic fork and twin-coil over shocks. The custom GT is anchored by a 320mm disc and a 240mm disc setup with dual-channel ABS. The bike continues to be powered by an air-oil cooled, 648cc parallel-twin motor belting down 47.65PS and 52Nm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The same engine is shared by the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. We have ridden the Interceptor 650 and here's what we think about it.
