An affordable, V-twin powered scrambler has arrived in Indonesia

Keeway SCR 250V launched in Indonesia. Priced at IDR 57.3 million (Rs 3 lakh). Powered by a 249cc V-twin engine.

PT. Benelli Motor Indonesia has launched the Keeway SCR 250V in the Southeast Asian country. The retro-styled scrambler motorcycle was showcased at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

For the uninitiated, Keeway is a two-wheeler brand founded in 1919 in Hungary, and it's now operated under the banner of PT. Benelli Motor Indonesia. The company has its presence in more than 80 countries, and it manufactures motorcycles in the 50-600cc segment.

The Keeway SCR 250V is a retro-styled scrambler that gets a halogen headlamp, a teardrop-shaped 13-litre fuel tank, a single-piece seat, spoke wheels, handlebar-mounted mirrors, an underbelly pan, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. To complement its retro-styling, the Keeway SCR 250V also carries a circular theme for some equipment like the headlamp, taillight, indicators, and instrument cluster.

It is powered by a 249cc V-twin air-cooled engine that churns out 17PS and 17Nm. As you can see, the power output isn't that impressive given the displacement and the fact that it has a twin-cylinder engine. All this power and torque is transferred to its wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. The ride here is taken care of by a telescopic fork at the front and a hydraulic monoshock unit at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, it employs disc brakes at both ends assisted by dual-channel ABS.

In Indonesia, the Keeway SCR 250V will compete with the Cleveland CycleWerks Ace Scrambler. The scrambler motorcycle is available in three colour options: Black, Orange, and Grey, and it's priced at IDR 57.3 million, which converts to Rs 3 lakh.

All said and done, the chances of it being launched in India seem slim at this point.
