Tiger 900 Teased Online: Unveil On December 3

Published On Nov 15, 2019 02:08 PM By Gaurav Sadanand for Triumph Tiger 900

Its larger 900cc motor is expected to deliver over 100PS of power

Will be available in two variants: Rally and GT. Tiger 900 GT is road biased while the rally variant will cater to off-road enthusiasts Both bikes feature slimmer proportions, LED headlights, a revised fuel-tank and a new swingarm. Expected to be launched in India by mid-2020.

British manufacturer Triumph has teased the upcoming Tiger 900 via social media. The short clip mentions that the bike will be launched on December 3. It will be offered in two variants: Rally and GT, which are expected to hit Indian shores by mid-2020. These models will be positioned alongside the current 800cc Tigers in the initial phase.

The 900cc mill is likely to carry the same in-line triple configuration as the Tiger 800 models. To put things into perspective, the Tiger 800 in its current state of tune generates 95PS and 79Nm. With extra displacement to play with, we could expect the new motor to offer over 110PS of power. The bump in power and displacement has a two-fold effect. It helps the ADV compete with the Ducati Multistrada 950 while running cleaner and complying with Euro 5 emissions.

Expect Triumph to offer a range of electric riders aids to harness the extra power and make the most out of the bike. This may include different rider modes, IMU-based cornering traction control and cornering ABS.

Other notable updates include a new bolt-on subframe that should be easier to replace in case of an accident. There's also a new swingarm and laced wheels wrapped with tubeless tyres. Expect the rally variant to come with knobby tyres for better off-road grip.

In India, the Tiger 900 GT is expected to carry a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the top-spec, road-biased Tiger 800 XRx, priced at Rs 13.39 lakh. The new Tiger 900 Rally, on the other hand, is likely to set you back by an additional lakh over the top-spec Tiger 800 XCa (Rs 15.17 lakh, ex-showroom).
