TNT 300, TNT 600i Among Other Benellis To Be BS6-compliant By Year End
The bike maker is planning to update its entire lineup by the end of 2019
Benelli India currently has five motorcycles in its model portfolio. The company is planning to upgrade these bikes to comply with new emission norms. The bike maker could also launch the Leoncino 502 in India by the end of this year. With new emission norms all set to kick in from April 2020, bike makers are currently shifting their focus to make sure their entire model lineup complies with BS6 emission norms. The latest to join this list is Benelli. The company is planning to upgrade its entire product portfolio to BS6-compliant platforms by the end of this year.
Currently, Benelli India’s range consists of five motorcycles: TNT 300, TNT 600i, 302R, TRK 502 and the TRK 502X. There’s no word from the company yet on which of these motorcycles will be one of the first ones to feature a BS6-compliant engine. The bike maker is also planning to expand the range by bringing the Leoncino 502 to India by the end of this year.
A few months back the Imperiale 400 was spotted testing in India for the first time. But we don’t expect Benelli to launch it before 2020. One of the reasons for its delays could be the fact that the bike maker is planning to heavily localise the bike to make sure that it is priced quite aggressively. Plus, the Imperiale too would have to meet BS6 norms and hence will need its engine to be tweaked.
As far as the price of the updated Benellis is concerned, we expect them to carry a slight premium over the standard models. The current range starts from Rs 2.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
