New BMW G 310 RR Teaser Makes Similarities To TVS Apache RR 310 More Apparent

Modified On Jun 8, 2022 01:03 PM By Ishan Lee for BMW G 310 RR

To be launched in July, the supersport will rival the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300

(UPDATE: BMW has launched the G 310 RR in India. Full details in our launch story)

Last week BMW Motorrad teased the arrival of its new entry-level supersport. The single image teaser suggested that BMW has decided to use TVS’s Apache RR 310, a feature-rich and well-equipped 310cc motorcycle as the base platform.

While we know the two brands are in agreement for platform sharing, we were hoping BMW would give the Apache based G 310 RR, a proper Bavarian makeover. However, a new teaser shared on Instagram reveals that the two motorcycles may in fact look more similar than we’d hoped.

While the new teaser reveals just the bare minimum, the alloy wheels, engine casing, bits of the bodywork, disc brakes, swingarm and the angle of the exhaust on the motorcycle look identical to the Apache RR 310.

Add that to what we know from the last teaser, mechanically and cosmetically, these two bikes could in fact be identical, save for the badges and paintwork. Speaking of which, the Beemer will be offered in a black and white paint scheme with a bold BMW livery slapped on the side panel of the new bike.

Over the last decade, the TVS-BMW partnership has given us three, 310cc motorcycles. While BMW went the ADV and streetfighter route with the G 310 GS and G 310 R respectively, TVS introduced its flagship Apache 310 RR supersport.

The entry-level supersport market overseas is a popular segment dominated primarily by KTM with its RC 390, which is not only brimming with power, but in its latest update, is also loaded with features. In that sense, adopting TVS’s flagship which is not only feature-rich, but also the only sub 400cc motorcycle to get fully adjustable suspension,  gives BMW enough ammo to enter the fight.

The most affordable fully faired motorcycle from the German marque will be officially unveiled on the 15th of July 2022 and what’s new and what’s not will be made clear very soon.
