Regular commuters weren’t the only popular choices last month
The second wave of the pandemic resulted in a complete lockdown in many parts of the country, but despite the challenges, brands managed to sell a respectable number of bikes in May 2021. Here are the five top-selling motorcycles of last month:

Just like April 2021 and the month before, the Hero Splendor tops the sales chart for May, followed by its sibling, the HF Deluxe, with a gap of over 58,000 units. The HF Deluxe’s sales have been dipping consistently for the last three months, from over 1,44,505 units in March to 42,118 in May, despite the launch of a more affordable variant in April.

The highlight has to be the sales figures of the Bajaj Pulsar and the TVS Apache ranges. Though the numbers aren’t flattering, these bikes outsold the likes of the Honda CB Shine and even the Bajaj Platina. The latter now comes in as a the most affordable ABS-equipped bike in the country, the Platina 110, and also has the most affordable bike with a self-start, the Platina 100 ES, under its umbrella.
With the COVID-19 restrictions easing in most parts of the country, we should see a steady rise in the sales numbers of all bikes. Besides, the increasing demand for sporty commuters in the face of rising fuel prices is good news for the Indian market.
