That said here are some motorcycles that are more adept at touring especially if you are limited to a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Rs 1,20,787):

The Pulsar 220F makes for a great tourer on a budget. It has a strong projector headlamp, a comfortable riding position, spacious and comfortable rider and pillion seat and a plush ride thanks to fat telescopic forks and twin gas-charged shock absorbers. It’s 220cc air and oil-cooled motor delivers a healthy 20.4PS and 18.55Nm and maintains highway speeds well. It gets disc brakes at the front and rear with single-channel ABS. the 165mm ground clearance should clear most road obstacles with ease. 

 

Hero XPulse 200 BS6 (Rs 1,11,790):

While the Hero XPulse 200 feels strained at highway speeds, when it comes to venturing out in remote areas like Ladakh, this 200cc adventure bike is in a league of its own. Its long-travel suspension, large wheels and high ground clearance ensure that you do not get stuck anywhere. The 199.6cc air and oil-cooled motor offers 18.08PS and 16.45Nm and is grunty enough to clear most obstacles with ease. Hero’s vast service network and availability of spare parts mean you won't end up being stuck anywhere either. 

 

TVS Apache RTR 200 (Rs 1,27,500):

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V impresses with not just its dynamic ability but also its ride quality that insulates the rider from broken roads. It gets a 197.7cc air and oil-cooled motor that delivers 20.5PS and 16.8Nm. It offers fantastic mid-range performance and is quite refined as well, a trait you will appreciate on long-distance highway stints. The Bluetooth assisted navigation feature is another useful feature that comes standard on the motorcycle.

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ES (Rs 1,39,949):

The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 has been a popular choice for touring since ages due to its supremely comfortable seat and a long stroke motor that offers great low-end torque. The fact that any roadside mechanic can repair the bike makes it a good bike to ride to remote areas. The BS6 model gets fuel injection and the updated 346 air-cooled motor now delivers 19.3PS and 28Nm of torque. The ability to carry extra luggage and auxiliary fuel cans is another bonus.

The Pulsar RS 200 is another good touring alternative from Bajaj. It gets a twin projector headlamp unit that offers fantastic spread and focus. The riding position is comfortable as are the seats and the perimeter frame. The gas-charged monoshock offer sporty handling as well. Power comes from a 199.5cc liquid cooled KTM-derived motor that offers 24.5PS and 18.7Nm. It gets a 6-speed gearbox so the motor feels relaxed at highway speeds. It even gets dual-channel ABS for better-stopping prowess.
