A closer look at the sexiest member of the Bonneville family in India

Triumph launched the Bonneville Bobber this week at Rs 11.75 lakh. For the premium of Rs 1.5 lakh, the Bobber has received a few noticeable updates. Here’s us taking a keen look at this sexy brute:

The Triumph Bonneville Bobber is the copybook bobber. Everything -- from the minimal body panels and chopped (bobbed) fenders to floating seat and the slash-cut exhausts -- almost scream its intention. Complementing the design is the matte paint job that lends the bike the perfect ‘garage build’ look.

The Triumph Bonneville Bobber’s floating seat is a piece of art. Not only does it look good, but it's extremely practical as well. It offers adjustability and can be moved higher or lower, depending on the rider’s height and preference.

The Bonnie Bobber is powered by a 1200cc parallel-twin engine, producing 78PS at 6,100rpm and 106Nm at 4,000rpm. Triumph claims the torque curve is noticeably smoother in this updated High Torque Bobber tune, with over 100Nm available from as early as 3000rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox paired with a slip-and-assist clutch.

You get a stunning circular LED headlight on the Bobber, complete with the company’s logo at the centre.

Replacing the puny 8-litre fuel tank from the previous model is a new 12-litre tank, which should make the Bobber more versatile and touring-friendly.

The 2021 Triumph Bonneville Bobber is armed with two riding modes (Rain and Road) along with adjustable traction control, dual-channel ABS, and cruise control as standard.

The 2021 Bonneville Bobber comes with 47mm Showa cartridge forks up front and a link-type monoshock at the rear. Triumph’s clever placement of the monoshock under the seat gives the illusion of a hardtail motorcycle.

For 2021, Triumph has opted for a beefy 16-inch front wheel instead of the 19-inch unit on the previous model. Yes, this is the same wheel that the House of Hinckley introduced with the Bonneville Bobber Black.

Instead of the single disc in the previous model, the new bike comes with two 310mm discs paired with two-pot Brembo axial calipers.

Triumph has been known to price its bikes competitively. However, the Bonneville Bobber’s asking price may not work in its favour, considering it’s not really a versatile machine. Also, with the more comfortable Bonneville Speedmaster available at the same price, the Bobber will have a hard time finding buyers.
