Triumph Thruxton 400 Spied Testing Again

Modified On Dec 23, 2024 02:00 PM By Tanmay for Triumph Thruxton 400

The most desirable Triumph 400 yet by the looks of it

Quick News Highlights:

Triumph Thruxton spotted undergoing testing near Pune

It is the cafe racer based on Triumph 400cc platform

Likely to be priced at a premium over the Speed 400

The Triumph 400cc line-up currently includes the Speed T4, the Speed 400, and the Scrambler 400X. Recent sightings of the Thruxton 400 during tests near Pune suggest the bike is nearing its production phase, and may launch early next year.

Design

Signature Triumph styling elements are already apparent, including its overall design and the brand logo on the engine casing. It shares several parts with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, while also borrowing design cues from the larger Thruxton 1200 cafe racer. The turn indicators have been repositioned lower compared to the Speed 400.

Other Elements

A round LED headlight, bar-end mirrors, a bigger windscreen, a sculpted fuel tank, a single-piece seat with a cowl, and an upswept exhaust are present. The bike's clip-on handlebars contribute to a sportier riding posture than the Speed 400. We can expect the Thruxton 400 to feature the same analogue-digital instrument console as the other 400cc bikes from the brand.

Underpinnings

The Thruxton 400 will likely be built on the same tubular steel frame and bolt-on rear subframe as the Speed 400. Its suspension consists of an USD fork and a monoshock. Test mules have been spotted with a black USD fork, unlike the golden ones seen on the Speed 400. It remains to be seen whether the suspension travel will be tailored specifically for the Thruxton. The bike can be seen equipped with 17-inch wheels at both ends. It will mostly be fitted with a 300mm front and a 230mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Pricing

Given its distinct cafe racer styling, the Thruxton 400 may carry a slightly higher price tag as compared to the Triumph Speed 400. For context, the Speed T4 is currently priced at Rs 1.99 lakh (year end discount), the Speed 400 at Rs 2.40 lakh, and the Scrambler 400X is at Rs 2.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
