Modified On Feb 4, 2019 02:15 PM By Niraj Kakade for Triumph Speed Twin 900 [2017-2024]

Both models get comprehensive mechanical upgrades and minor design tweaks

The 900cc parallel-twin motor has been retuned to deliver more power. Mechanical changes include revised suspension setup and braking units. Both are expected to carry a premium of Rs 50,000 over the current-gen models.

Triumph India is set to launch the 2019 iteration of the Street Twin and the Street Scrambler on February 14. Both models were first showcased at Intermot 2018 in Cologne, Germany, and feature comprehensive mechanical updates apart from minor design tweaks.

The 2019 Street Twin and Street Scrambler get a new logo on the fuel tank, slightly redesigned side panels and new alloy wheels as well. The 900cc parallel-twin motor that powers both motorcycles now produces 65PS instead of 55PS. However, at 80Nm, the torque output remains the same as before. The engine on the 2019 models also get a magnesium case, a lighter clutch, lighter crankshaft and a balancer shaft. Additionally, both motorcycles now come with two riding modes - Road and Rain - while switchable traction control and ABS remain standard.

Further changes include new 41mm KYB forks at the front. The rear continues to use the same KYB twin shock setup as before. Also new are the 310mm Nissin four-piston callipers at the front that replace the two-piston units seen on the older bike. Although the 2019 Street Scrambler gets the same 255mm disc with a Nissin calliper at the rear, the 2019 Street Twin’s rear disc has been downsized from 255mm to 220mm.

The outgoing versions of the Street Twin and the Street Scrambler are priced at Rs 7.7 lakh and Rs 8.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. However, expect the 2019 models to be priced at premium of Rs 50,000 thanks to the engine updates and cosmetic changes. Although the Street Twin does not have any rivals in the country, the Street Scrambler goes up against the Ducati Scrambler, which is priced at Rs 6.78 lakh (ex-showroom) (for the Icon Red).
