Triumph Unveils New Rocket III

Modified On Aug 1, 2019 06:23 PM By Benjamin Noel Gracias for Triumph Rocket 3

The new  bike is lighter, more powerful and more dynamic than before

The new Rocket III has a larger motor and makes 11 percent more power than before. It is 40kg lighter than before and gets Showa fully adjustable suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes. The new Rocket has been equipped with ride-by-wire, four rider modes, cornering ABS and traction control.

Triumph has unveiled its new Rocket III motorcycle. The new bike will be available in two variants: Rocket III R and Rocket III GT. While the R is a roadster version with flat handlebar, mid-set pegs and a 773mm seat height, the GT is the touring variant with pulled-back handlebars, forward set footpegs and a low 750mm seat with a pillion backrest. In terms of styling, the Rocker III retains the silhouette of the previous bike but gets subtle updates like twin LED headlamps, new wheels, and more.

The new Rocket III gets a massive 2500cc in-line 3-cylinder motor which gains 200cc in displacement. Power has gone up by 11 per cent as well. The new motor makes 167PS of power and a 221Nm of torque at just 4000rpm. To keep all this energy in check, the Rocket III gets a host of electronic rider aids. It gets ride-by-wire, four ride modes  (Rain, Road, Sport and Rider), cornering ABS and traction control. It also gets hill hold assist and cruise control.

Apart from the large and powerful motor, the new bike has undergone a weight loss program as well. It gets a new aluminium frame that helps the Rocker III shed weight. The new bike now weighs 40kg lighter than before. While the new frame helps make the bike lighter, the new Rocket III should be dynamically competent thanks to its new fully adjustable Showa suspension setup. Braking receives a boost in the form of Brembo’s top-spec Stylema monobloc calipers. It retains the same fat 240-section profile wheels but now with specially developed Avon Cobra Chrome tyres.

The new Rocket III will go on sale overseas in November. It is expected to come to India early next year and replace the now-discontinued previous-gen Rocket III. While the previous-gen Rocket III retailed for Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), we expect then new bike to cost between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 22 lakh and will make its India debut in early 2020.
