TVS Apache-based Adventure Bike On The Way?
The recent filing of the 'Apache RTX' trademark application suggests the potential of an ADV bike from TVS
With the adventure segment in India growing really fast, it seems like another Indian manufacturer is ready to dip its toes in it very soon. TVS has applied for a trademark for the name ‘Apache RTX’, the status of which is ‘Formalities Chk Pass’, which means the Indian Trademark Registry has authenticated the application.
The manufacturer has been associated with making bikes (especially the Apache range) with technology inspired by its near four-decade-long racing history. This includes TVS’ foray into off-road racing and rallying – with the RTR FX series of bikes. Now, those are hardcore, competition-prepped vehicles, so we believe the RTX name suggests an off-road focused offering that could be the common ground between the FX and RTR families. Additionally, TVS’ partnership with BMW Motorrad has already given us the BMW G 310 GS . And because of that partnership, the TVS Apache RR 310 (which shares the same engine) was eventually rebadged as the BMW G 310 RR. But let’s not hope that will also be the case with this one, and that TVS comes up with something unique.
The upcoming bike might also be an Apache-based scrambler, but TVS already offers the TVS Ronin which is claimed to be sort of a do-it-all motorcycle, so that possibility seems unlikely. To know for sure, we’ll wait for further details.
