The new RR 310 is better than before and here’s what makes it special and what we feel could have been better on it

TVS recently launched their updated flagship offering in the Indian sports bike segment, the 2024 Apache RR 310. It continues to get the 312.2cc liquid-cooled engine and a variety of features and customizations. We recently got a chance to ride the 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 on track and here’s a breakdown of what works and what doesn’t for the new Apache RR 310.

 Things We Like

Striking Design

The 2024 Apache RR 310 has a striking presence, particularly with the new Bomber Grey variant. Its bold styling and sharp lines grab attention, giving it a superbike-like aura. The build quality is also excellent, making it a head-turner on the road.

Improved Engine Performance

The Apache RR 310 now produces 38PS at 9800rpm and 29Nm at 7900rpm in Sport and Track modes. This increase in power of 4PS and 2Nm over previous models makes the bike more exciting to ride.

Smooth Quickshifter

The bi-directional quickshifter available in the Racing Red and Bomber Grey variants performs well. It allows for seamless gear transitions without clutch engagement, which increases the riding experience, especially on track days.

Top-notch Handling

The Apache RR 310’s handling is among its best features. It feels nimble and responsive, giving newer riders confidence while also providing thrills for seasoned motorcyclists. The optional Dynamic Kit with fully adjustable suspension allows for further fine-tuning.

Feature-loaded TFT Screen

The vertical 5-inch TFT screen is a tech highlight. It not only offers basic information but also provides ride data like post-ride analysis, turn-by-turn navigation, gear shift indicators, and Bluetooth connectivity. The option to store important documents adds practical value for long-distance riders.

Customisation Kits

The two available kits—Dynamic and Dynamic Pro—enhance the bike's versatility and appeal. Adjustable suspension, TPMS, and high-end electronic features like cornering ABS, traction control, and cruise control, all make the Apache RR 310 a well-rounded machine.

 Things We Dislike

Jerky Throttle in Sport and Track Modes

While the engine is powerful, the throttle response can feel jerky in Sport and Track modes. This can be uncomfortable for some riders, especially in city traffic, where you would want a smooth throttle response.

Linear Power Delivery

While the engine’s smoothness is a positive for the majority, some riders may find the power delivery too linear, especially if they quickly outgrow the bike’s learning curve. Those looking for a more aggressive response might be left wanting for more excitement.

Pricing

The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 is expensive as the starting price is Rs 2.75 lakh for the base Racing Red variant, but once you add features, kits, and the Bomber Grey colour, the cost can rise to Rs 3.31 lakh. This puts it above competitors like the KTM RC 390, which offers similar or better performance for a lower price tag of Rs 3.21 lakh. (All prices ex-showroom, Delhi)

Limited Fuel Tank Range

Despite decent mileage of 33-34kmpl, the 11-litre fuel tank can feel limiting for long-distance riders. While a range of 330-350km per tank is decent, a larger fuel would have been better to make the Apache RR 310 better suited for long-haul trips.

BikeDekho Says

The TVS Apache RR 310 is undoubtedly one of the most versatile bikes in the 300cc segment. With sharp looks, strong engine performance, and a host of features, it’s an appealing option for those looking for a well-rounded sports bike. However, its jerky throttle in aggressive modes, linear power delivery, and higher price tag compared to competitors might make some potential buyers think twice.
