TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Now Gets ABS
The 160cc bike now gets a single-channel ABS unit and is priced at Rs 98,644 (ex-showroom Pune)
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V now gets an ABS variant. However, the essential safety net is currently limited to the fuel-injected variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V. Priced at Rs 98,644 (ex-showroom Pune), it costs Rs 6,999 more than the non-ABS version. While all other bikes from the Apache range, including the RTR 180, RTR 200 and the RR 310, get a dual-channel ABS, the RTR 160 makes do with a single-channel unit. We believe this move was taken to keep costs in check.
Earlier, the Apache RTR 160 4V came in three variants. For starters, the 159cc air-cooled with an oil-cooler single-cylinder motor came in carburetted and fuel-injected guise. While the fuel injected version delivers a best-in-class 16.8PS power output, the carburetted version puts out a slightly lower 16.5PS. However, both offer a similar torque output of 14.8Nm. TVS also offered a more affordable variant of the carb version which was equipped with a front disc/rear drum setup. With the introduction of latest ABS variant, the RTR 160 range now consists of four variants.

While the carb variant continues to miss out on ABS, we feel that TVS may introduce it to give buyers more choice. We can expect a similar price hike for the carburetted RTR 160 4V ABS variant as well. The carbureted dual-disc RTR 160 4V retails for Rs 84,810 (ex-showroom Pune).
With the introduction of ABS, the Apache RTR 160 now goes up against the Honda Hornet 160 ABS (Rs 92,638), Suzuki Gixxer ABS (Rs 90,059) and Yamaha FZ v3.0 (Rs 95,000) (all prices, ex-showroom Pune).
