TVS Launches Ronin Drift R School in India

TVS launches Ronin Drift R school for enthusiasts to experience flat track riding. Participants can learn the techniques with custom made Ronin Flat Trackers. Currently only in Pune, with plans to expand to other cities.

TVS Motor Company has taken a step in bringing flat track racing to more enthusiasts with the launch of the ‘Ronin Drift R School’. The school offers riders a chance to experience flat track racing under the guidance of Aishwarya Pissay, first Indian to win a world title in the FIM Baja World Cup and Nilesh Dhumal, the head trainer at ProDirt Adventure, “an academy in Pune where you can learn the art of off-roading”. These sessions will cover essential flat track techniques including sliding and cornering, all in a controlled environment that prioritizes building both skill and confidence.

 

The custom Ronin made specifically for the dirt was first revealed at MotoSoul 2023. The bike features a host of flat track related upgrades that include a flatter single seat unit, block pattern tyres from Timsun, a new handlebar that is closer to the rider and a larger, all metal bash plate to protect the underbody.

This stripped–down version has shed excess weight such as the mirrors, the instrument cluster, the saree guard, the pillion footpegs, the headlight and even the front brake has been removed. Yes you read that right, flat track racing does not require the use of the front brake as riders mainly use throttle and clutch modulation to control the bike.

 

The bike is powered by the same 225.9cc, 4 stroke, 4 valve, SOHC, single cylinder engine that is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It delivers a max power of 20.4 PS at 7,750 rpm and 19.93 N-m of peak torque at 3,750 rpm in the standard road going version, but here it gets a free flow race exhaust. 

TVS is also set to take the Ronin Drift R School to various cities across the country. The initiative will initially cover major urban centers and will gradually expand to include tier-2 and tier-3 cities as well, providing more people across the country with the opportunity to experience and participate in this learning program.
