TVS Raider 125 Real-world Performance Explained: Acceleration, Braking And Fuel Efficiency

Modified On Nov 28, 2021 12:55 PM By Team Bikedekho for TVS Raider

We test the new TVS Raider 125 to find out whether or not it offers the wicked ride the company claims

To capture the 125cc motorcycle segment in India, TVS launched the Raider 125. While the Hosur-based bikemaker calls the Raider 125 the “wicked ride”, we put the bike through its paces to find if that claim is substantiated. Here are the results.

Acceleration:

Raider 125 Normal Mode

Raider 125 Eco Mode

0-60kmph

6.23 seconds

6.61 seconds

0-80kmph

11.28 seconds

11.99 seconds

0-100kmph

22.04 seconds

The TVS Raider 125 is powered by a 124.8cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine which churns out 11.38PS and 11.2Nm. This new engine gets a strong mid-range and decently powerful top-end that offers punchy performance. We also tested the Raider 125 on the 'Eco' mode that limits engine revs to 8,000rpm. And still, the bike managed to hit 80kmph under 12 seconds, which is pretty impressive considering it's a humble 125cc motorcycle.

Fuel Efficiency:

Raider 125

City

71.94kmpl

Highway

65.44kmpl

The TVS Raider 125 offers excellent performance, but for that, it does not compromise on fuel efficiency. Also, what works in its favour is the idle stop/start system and the 'Eco' mode. The former shuts off the engine when you come to a halt, while the latter limits engine revs to reduce fuel consumption.

Braking:

Raider 125

80-0kmph

41.94m

60-0kmph

24.23m

For braking, the TVS Raider employs a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum, assisted by a combi-braking system. However, for the kind of performance the Raider 125 offers, the stopping power indeed could have been better. Also, the brake lever lacks travel and just doesn't move beyond a certain point.
