TVS RP Race Performance Teased, Apache RTR 165 RP Incoming
TVS could unveil its sub-brand, a performance division just like AMG for Mercedes Benz, in the coming weeks
(UPDATE: TVS has launched the Apache RTR 165 RP in India. Head here to read the launch story.)
The trademark filings of the brand ‘TVS RP Race Performance’ and the bike ‘TVS Apache RTR 165 RP’ were recently accepted and soon, TVS Motor released a teaser video of the TVS RP Race Performance. This could be the name of a performance sub-brand just like M is for BMW and AMG is for Mercedes Benz. Expect the company to unveil the brand in the weeks ahead.
Since the TVS Apache RTR 165 RP has already been trademarked, it’s pretty much a given that this will be the first motorcycle under the new sub-brand. The current-gen Apache RTR 160 4V is already one of the most powerful and feature-packed motorcycles in the 160cc segment. The upcoming Apache RTR 165 RP will give the Hosur-based bikemaker an even greater edge over its rivals, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi, Hero Xtreme 160R, Honda X-Blade, and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
The Apache RTR 165 RP could feature a rebored engine producing about 1-1.5PS and 1Nm more than the current-gen motor, which churns out 17.63PS and 14.73Nm. Expect its ergonomics to be a little more aggressive. TVS could also equip the motorcycle with a preload-adjustable front fork like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
While the sub-brand could be unveiled soon, expect TVS to launch the Apache RTR 165 RP early next year.
