TVS Star City Plus, Radeon And Sport Receive Price Hikes
All the brand’s commuter bikes have become dearer, but not by much
Indian two-wheeler buyers place huge emphasis on value-for-money, and the commuter bike segment amplifies this phenomenon. Which is why brands need to be careful about not pricing their products too far out of reach, or hiking prices too frequently. TVS has upped the prices for its commuter offerings: the Star City Plus, Radeon and Sport. But it has been sensible and restricted the magnitude of the hikes, which stands at just Rs 20 in some cases. The Sport is the worst hit of the lot, seeing an increase of Rs 1,250 and Rs 1,425 across its two variants. As a result, the even the most premium commuter in the TVS lineup, the Star City Plus, is still considerably more affordable than something like Honda’s premium 110cc commuter, the Livo, which starts at upwards of Rs 70,000 after its own recent price hike. Even more commendably, the TVS is still more affordable than both of Hero’s 110cc commuters - the Passion Pro and Splendor iSmart. Undercutting Honda is hardly something to shout about but undercutting Hero MotoCorp is quite an achievement.
