UM Renegade Sports S, Renegade Commando And Others To Get ABS In Two Months
Our sources have confirmed that all existing bikes in UM’s portfolio will get dual-channel ABS
Expected to command a premium of Rs 15,000 over non-ABS counterparts. Apart from the introduction of ABS models, expect UM to launch the Duty S too. UM might also bring out the Renegade Sports S Vegas edition, a fancier version of the Sports S.Our sources have revealed that UM Lohia Two-wheelers will be updating all its models with ABS in two months. UM’s current lineup includes the Renegade Sports S, Renegade Commando, Mojave and Classic. Around the same time, the company is also likely to launch the Renegade Duty S, which will get a dual-channel ABS as well. According to sources, the brand will also be launching the Renegade Sports S Vegas Edition, which is essentially a fancier version of the standard Sports S.
Both the Duty S and the Commando Vegas were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in India. At the Expo, UM had announced that the Duty S would be priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and would be launched in July that year. However, the company failed to launch the bike on time.
Now, however, the motorcycle is likely to command a much higher price tag thanks to the inclusion of ABS and also inflation. Expect UM to price the upcoming motorcycle at around Rs 1.2 to Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom). The Duty S will be UM’s entry-level product as it packs a smaller 223cc air-cooled engine with oil cooler. It generates 17.2PS at 8000rpm and 17Nm of torque at 5000rpm. Once launched, it will compete against the Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
On the other hand, the Renegade Sports S Vegas edition comes with the same engine as the normal variant. The 279.5 cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor makes 25.1PS at 8500rpm and 23Nm at 7000rpm. Suspension bits on both bikes include telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Expect the Vegas edition to command a premium of around Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 over the Sports S’ price tag of Rs 1.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
At present, UM does sell the non-ABS bikes, but those will be available only until stocks last. As far as the upcoming ABS variants are concerned, expect a price hike of about Rs 15,000 over the non-ABS counterparts considering the fact that it will be a dual-channel unit. The ABS-equipped bikes will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 range in its segment.
