Upcoming Scooter Launches In 2023
Our picks of scooters we’re looking forward to in the coming year
In the year gone by, we saw some existing scooters receive updates – like the TVS NTorq 125 XT, TVS Jupiter ZX and Suzuki Burgman Street 125 EX – as well as the entry of new models like the Keeway Sixties 300i and Vieste 300. And from what we can hope this momentum continues in 2023.
To that end, we have compiled a short list of scooters, our picks of the no doubt many others which will launch in 2023. So here goes…
1. Hero Maestro Xoom 110
Estimated price - Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom)
Based on a reveal from a dealer event some months ago, Hero is all set to bring about a sportier iteration of its 110cc offering with the Maestro Xoom 110. This sporty 110cc scoot will get an all-new design, with an apron-mounted headlight and stalk-mounted rear indicators (similar to a motorcycle). Moreover, the layout of its all-digital instrument console will also be redesigned. And finally, though its engine specifications will stay unchanged, we believe the engine tune will get a sportier twist.
We estimate that the Hero Maestro Xoom 110 will launch in March or April 2023, and will be just a bit cheaper than its main rival, the Honda Dio.
2. Suzuki Access 125 EX
Estimated price - Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom)
Suzuki recently brought out a range-topping EX variant of the Burgman Street 125, and will now repeat the feat with its highest-selling scooter, the Access 125, which may launch in the first half of 2023.
Like the Burgman, the Access 125 EX will also get a 12-inch rear wheel instead of a 10-inch unit. This in turn marginally increases the wheelbase, making the overall handling of the Suzuki Access a bit more stable. And of course, being the top variant, bits like smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation are a given.
But all’s not rosy with the Access 125 EX. Like the Burgman, this one will also be marginally heavier than the lower variants, which may impact performance, as the engine tune remains unchanged. And of course, it’ll be significantly costlier than its lower-spec rivals.
3. TVS Jupiter 125
Estimated price - Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom)
TVS’ family-oriented 125 will get a significant tech update, with an all-digital console instead of the current model’s semi-analogue unit. And just like its sportier cousin, the Ntorq 125, the updated Jupiter 125’s console will not just have smartphone connectivity, but also navigation, ride data, service reminder and lots more, courtesy the TVS Smartxonnect app.
Apart from this, though, the new Jupiter 125 shall stay mechanically unchanged, and may undergo a slight price hike.
4. TVS NTorq 125 Super Squad Edition
Estimated price - Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom)
Along with the tech-loaded family scooter, TVS will also refresh its superhero-themed Ntorq range with some more Marvel comics characters like Dr Strange, Ant Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy. As far as we know, the refreshed Super Squad Edition scooters will go on sale around the same time the updated Jupiter 125 does, and will be priced at par with the other scoots in the Super Squad lineup.
So these were the scooters we expect will make an appearance sooner rather than later on our roads. And as mentioned, we expect many, many more scooters to launch in 2023. So which scooters are you most excited about? Do write in!
And from all of us to all of you – Happy New Year in advance!
