Watch Video: Bajaj Dominar 400 Rider Jumps Off Bike To Save Himself: Safe Bike Riding/Touring Tips
A Tata Intra V30 mini truck driver veers off road and almost runs over the biker
A video of a Bajaj Dominar 400 rider jumps off his bike to save himself from an out-of-control mini truck running straight towards him has been doing the rounds of the internet.
It happened on a straight road, and it looks like the driver of the mini truck, a Tata Infra V30, was inattentive. As a result, the driver lost control of the truck, and rammed into a fence. The truck was speeding, too, and post the collision with the fence, charged towards the Dominar rider. However, the bike rider was vigilant and saved himself by jumping off the bike and getting out of the truck's way. Head here for more details on trucks. You can watch the full video below.
Road accidents can cause serious damage and even death, hence it is always preferable to take precautions and, if possible, plan your trips ahead. You can adhere to these following tips to ride and tour safely when on a motorcycle.
Always wear your full gear including a helmet, gloves, riding jacket, pants and boots. These protective layers will help minimise damage in case of a crash.
Always be vigilant and mindful of your surroundings, this includes riders and drivers around you. This will help you steer the situation and avoid any unforeseen circumstances. Look at where you want to go and always scan for obstacles ahead.
Do not overspeed, and be more in control of your vehicle. According to a 2021 study by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, every year around 1.5 lakh people die on Indian roads. Speeding, especially on narrow roads, is extremely dangerous as there’s barely any reaction time in case anything untoward happens.
Lane discipline is important. Try to stay in your lane so that you and other riders/drivers have space to move around in a risky situation.
Lastly, keep your eyes well ahead on the road and apply brakes early. This will help reduce your chances of a crash by a significant margin. Even in the video, the biker is seen slowing down and stopping much before the truck hits him, thus saving his life.
Avoid using earphones while riding as it drowns out the ambient noise. Make sure both rear-view mirrors are functional and set at the correct angle so that you know what’s behind you.
With these pointers, we hope our readers enjoy riding to the fullest, while staying as safe as possible. Happy mile-munching!
