Electric two-wheelers have been gaining popularity lately, however, the electric motorcycle segment is yet to see some action in India. However, Dongma, a Chinese EV player seems to have the right tool to stir our market. Meet the Dongma Ducalon, an electric motorcycle that could pass as Ducati’s first electric motorcycle.

The Dongma Ducalon is heavily inspired by the Ducati 1199 Panigale. Right from its recessed twin headlights with the DRLs to the side fairing and even the bright gloss red paint job reminds of the Italian supersports. In fact, look closely and you’ll see a small ‘1199’ sticker on the fairing. But that’s where the similarities end.

Dongma has used a QS Motor-sourced electric motor on this bike. You can choose a motor with capacity of 3kW to 10kW. While the performance details aren’t available, Dongma claims the bike can achieve a top speed of 150kmph. You can also choose between lead acid and lithium-ion batteries with capacity ranging between 20Ah to 100Ah and a range of upto 200km. 

The Dongma Ducalon features a telescopic fork and link-type monoshock suspension setup. To drop the anchor on this electric bike, Dongma has used dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Dongma claims that the bike tips the scales at just 149kg (including battery) which is fairly lightweight by electric motorcycle standards.

The Dongma Ducalon is priced at an equivalent of Rs 78,000 to Rs 1,03,000 making it as affordable as the newly launched Ola S1 electric scooter. While the Dongma Ducalon is not coming to India, we have had similar offerings from Kabira Mobility and Joy E-bikes.
