Which 160cc Bike Has The Best Acceleration And Braking?

Modified On Jun 18, 2023 10:45 AM By Aamir Momin for TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

We pit the best 160cc bikes in India against each other to find out their acceleration and braking numbers

The 160cc sporty bike segment in India is booming with multiple bikes from multiple brands, namely the Bajaj Pulsar N160, Hero Xtreme 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer 155 and the Yamaha FZ-X. To test out which of these bikes is the best, we did a mega comparo. So which of these has the best acceleration and braking performance? Check it out here:

Acceleration

Bikes

0-60kmph Time

Bajaj Pulsar N160

5.24s

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

5.58s

Hero Xtreme 160R 2V

5.62s

Suzuki Gixxer

5.74s

Yamaha FZ-X

7.04s

As you can see, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 is the quickest among its peers, even more than the ‘racing DNA inspired’ TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Interestingly, the Pulsar makes 1.5PS less than the Apache, but it has a better mid range, whereas the Apache focuses more on brisk top end performance. The FZ-X is the slowest by almost two seconds, and it isn’t really a sporty motorcycle.

Braking

Bikes

80-0kmph Distance

Bajaj Pulsar N160

33.91m

Suzuki Gixxer

38.08m

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

38.36m

Hero Xtreme 160R 2V

38.83m

Yamaha FZ-X

40.84m

Great power should be complemented by great braking responsibility. And excelling here, too, is the Pulsar N160. It leaves its peers behind by a whopping four metres, thanks to its braking force and feedback aided by the dual-channel ABS, a segment first. Apart from that, the other three – except the Yamaha FZ-X – are next-to-neck. While the Gixxer lacks initial bite, the Xtreme does a decent job and the Apache just lacks brake feel.

So when it comes to performance and braking, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 comes out as the winner. Want to know which of these bikes have better features? Find out here in this story.
