Xiaomi’s New Electric Scooter Will Fit Into Your Backpack!

Modified On Nov 27, 2019 01:42 PM By Benjamin Noel Gracias

This foldable scooter has a top speed of 18kmph and a range of 30km

The Himo H1 folds down to the size of a large laptop.  Despite the small size, it can carry a full-sized adult.   Is powered by a 180W electric hub motor. Top speed is rated at 18kmph.  Its lithium-ion battery pack offers a range of 30km.

Xiaomi has been doing pretty unconventional stuff when it comes to electric two-wheeled mobility. It first came up with the Himo V1 mini bike and followed it up with the Himo T1 electric moped. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has introduced a folding scooter called the Himo H1. The unique feature about this electric scooter is that it can be folded to the size a bit larger than a 17-inch laptop.

Ok, the scooter’s tiny dimensions partly help achieve this feat. The other contributing factor is the number of folds (we counted at least ten!). Once folded, the Himo H1 shrinks to the dimensions of 45.5x32x23cm. It only weighs 14.5kg, which means you could even carry it in your backpack. The weight is kept low thanks to the use of a tiny lithium-ion battery pack that helps provide a range of around 30km.

It gets a tiny DC brushless electric motor mounted on the rear wheel hub. Despite the tiny size, this motor puts out 180W, enough to propel a full-size adult to a top speed of 18kmph. The scooter can support a weight of 75kg.

The Himo H1 might be tiny but it does not skimp on features. It has a bright LED headlamp, LED tail lamp and a full HD instrument console that displays the speed and battery charge. Heck, it even gets luggage hooks. The most impressive bit though, is its wide seat.

The Xiaomi Himo X1 is priced at Rs 2,999 yuan (Rs 30,450) in China. If it were to be sold in India, we expect the Himo H1 to cost around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. That does sound expensive, but the idea of a folding electric bike to solve last-mile connectivity problems is something we are interested in.
