Yamaha Cygnus Gryphus 125cc Scooter Unveiled – The Perfect Rival To The TVS NTorq 125
Looks premium, packs a punch, and gets plenty of features too
The 125cc scooter segment is perfect for developed markets as it offers a balance of affordability and sportiness. And catering to exactly this segment is the Yamaha Cygnus Gryphus, the bikemaker’s newest sporty yet purpose-oriented 125cc scooter for Japan.
The design of the Yamaha Gryphus gives proper Aerox 155 vibes, with the sharp side cowls, the Y-spoke alloy wheels, and the edgy tail section. Here, however, you get smaller LED lights up front but a larger, more prominent LED taillight at the rear than the Aerox.
To complement the smart design, Yamaha has equipped the Cygnus Gryphus with a blue-backlit LCD instrument cluster, a USB charging port, a multifunction key hole, and single disc brakes at both ends coupled with a combined braking system.
You also get an impressive 28-litre underseat storage capacity, which should easily be able to swallow a full-face helmet.
Coming to the powertrain, the Yamaha Cygnus Gryphus employs a 125cc single-cylinder motor putting out 12PS and 11Nm, which is more than any 125cc scooter on sale in India.
Judging from its specs and features, the Cygnus Gryphus is more than capable of taking on not only the Suzuki Avenis but also the class-leading TVS NTorq 125. Sadly, though, the Cygnus Gryphus will be sold only in Japan as of now, which is a bummer considering its potential.
