Yamaha FZ 25, FZS 25 Launching Soon In BS6 Form
The bikes could be available as early as next month
The updated bikes were unveiled in February. Expect a price hike in the range of Rs 5,000. The poorly performing headlight has been updated, and two new colour options have been added. The country may be under lockdown, but it’s not all quiet on the news front. The latest from today is that Yamaha will be launching the FZ 25 and FZS 25 in BS6-compliant form very soon. Now before you get ahead of yourself, we should tell you that the bikes will only be launched once the lockdown ends, so expect them to go on sale in May with deliveries beginning by the end of that month.
The FZ 25 BS6 and FZS 25 BS6 were unveiled in February, a day before Auto Expo 2020 got underway. This was also the same day that Yamaha launched the MT-15 BS6 and Ray ZR 125. The bike has remained largely unchanged apart from a few important tweaks. One grouse we had with the FZ25 was its poor headlight performance, and obviously Yamaha has heard us, because the FZ25 BS6 features a new headlight. Hopefully it can solve its predecessor’s problems.

Also new are an engine cowl and two never seen before colour schemes - Metallic Black and Racing Blue. Yamaha has thrown in an engine side-stand cut-off feature as well. The FZS 25 is being offered for the first time, and if you go for it, you get a slightly larger windscreen and knuckle guards, which should make it a slightly more touring-friendly motorcycle.
While we don’t have any engine specifications yet, we know that it will be powered by the same fuel-injected 249cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor that produces 20.8PS at 8000rpm and 20.1Nm at 6000rpm in BS4 form. Let’s hope Yamaha can retain that output. As for the price, we expect an increment of Rs 5,000, meaning that the FZ 25 BS6 and FZS 25 BS6 should be priced at around Rs 1.40 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh respectively. Once launched, the models will sit neatly in between bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V/Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
