Yamaha FZ-X: Same Price, Other Options

Not quite sold on the FZ-X? Here are your alternatives for a similar price

The Yamaha FZ-X made its Indian debut a few days ago and has been priced at Rs 1,16,800 onwards  (ex-showroom Delhi). While it offers quite a bit for the money, its neo-retro design is a tad polarizing and may not fit everyone’s bill. So, here are other two-wheelers that you can opt for almost the same amount of money. 

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Rs 1.07,315 to Rs 1,10,365

Of the five two-wheelers we have here, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is the most affordable alternative to the Yamaha FZ-X. It not only costs less but also offers more power and torque: 17.63PS and 14.73Nm. That’s 5PS and 1.4Nm more than the FZ-X’s 12.4PS and 13.3Nm. Moreover, its class-leading output figures are complemented by sharp handling.  

Bajaj Pulsar NS160: Rs 1,11,834

The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 packs a lively 160cc motor and borrows its styling cues from the NS200. It is powered by a 160cc oil-cooled 4-valve engine that makes 17.6PS and 14.2Nm. However, we must mention that the Pulsar NS160 misses out on modern features. But hey, it's the horsepower that lets you have more fun, right?

Suzuki Gixxer: Rs 1,16,700

The Suzuki Gixxer is another value for money motorcycle. With a fine balance of performance and practicality, the Gixxer could very well be worth your money. With the BS6 update there’s enough low and mid-range grunt on offer from the 155cc mill for city commutes. However, it’s the top-end performance that has taken a hit. Apart from the new heart, the Gixxer has also undergone a visual update which makes it look fresher. 

Hero XPulse: Rs 1,18,230

At Rs 1.18 lakh, the Hero XPulse 200, makes for a great deal. The off-road centric components aren't beneficial only when you hit the trails but also offer a plush ride while riding over our pothole infested city roads. Another advantage of the Xpulse is its larger 200cc motor, and it even gets turn-by-turn Bluetooth navigation as standard.

Aprilia SXR 125: Rs 1,16,000

The only maxi-styled scooter that you can buy instead of the Yamaha FZ-X is the Aprilia SXR 125. The Italian offering not only gets imposing looks but is also quite practical. The large underseat storage, decent legroom, USB charging port and the optional connectivity features make it a commendable prospect.
