Yamaha MT-15 Launched In India At Rs 1.36 lakh

Modified On Mar 15, 2019 11:30 AM By Alpesh Rajpurohit for Yamaha MT-15

The entry-level performance naked bike will rival the KTM 125 Duke

At this price, the MT-15 is Rs 3,350 more affordable than its fully faired cousin, the R15 V3.0. It gets single-channel ABS as standard. Features LED lights at both ends. The MT-15 shares major components such as engine, frame and brake setup with the R15 V3.0.

Yamaha has launched its entry-level performance naked bike, the MT-15 in India at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The MT-15 is India’s first 150cc street naked motorcycle with a liquid-cooled engine.

The MT-15 looks like a scaled down version of its big brother, the MT-09. Its aggressive stance and twin-LED predator-style headlights make it a head-turner.

To keep costs in check, Yamaha has made some tweaks to the India-spec model compared to the Indonesia-spec bike. For starters, the India-spec model features a box-type swingarm, instead of a cast aluminium swingarm seen on the international-spec model. Even the suspension setup on both the models is different. While the Indonesia-spec MT-15 is equipped with upside-down forks at the front, the India-spec model gets conventional telescopic forks. Stopping power comes from a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The MT-15 also features single-channel ABS.

The entry-level street naked motorcycle features the same engine as the R15 V3.0. The 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor churns out 19.3PS of power and 14.7Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

For now, Yamaha isn't offering any accessories with the MT-15. At 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the MT-15 is Rs 3,350 more affordable than the R15 V3.0. In terms of rivals, the MT-15 goes up against the KTM 125 Duke. We will be riding the MT-15 today, so stay tuned to BikeDekho for the first ride review.
